The Delta Blues Museum
Established in 1979 by Sid Graves, the director of the local Carnegie Public Library, the Delta Blues Museum is the State oldest music museum. In 1999, the rapidly expanding collection found a permanent home in the historic Yazoo & Mississippi Valley (Y&MV) passenger freight depot.
Funded by admissions, donations, and the City of Clarksdale, the museum has grown into a world-renowned attraction, drawing tens of thousands of visitors annually. Its exhibits are a treasure trove of artifacts, instruments, costumes, and memorabilia from the greatest names in blues history.
The crown jewel of the museum's collection is the actual sharecropper's cabin where blues legend Muddy Waters lived during his time on the Stovall Plantation.
